Scorpio is the eighth of the twelve signs of the zodiac, corresponding to the constellation Scorpius, and is most often depicted as a Scorpion.
Throughout history, Scorpio has at times been depicted as an eagle. It is the only one of the zodiac symbols to have two distinct animals.
The glyph for Scorpio looks like the capital letter M with an arrow tipped tail coming upward off the right hand leg. The glyph looks very similar to the one for Virgo.
Scorpio tattoos can be of the image, glyph, or combination of both.
Scorpio is a water element sign, and is ruled by the planet Pluto. Scorpio is linked to the ancient Greek story about Orion the hunter (also a constellation, but not one of the zodiac signs). In an attempt to impress the goddess Artemis, Orion hunted and killed all of the animals in Crete. Artemis, herself a hunter, was appalled by Orions act, and sentenced him to death. Death by scorpion bite. In early Christian art, the scorpion represented treachery.
The Scorpio personality dislikes mediocrity, and works determinately to accomplish goals. The Scorpio makes decisions easily, and carries out plans generally by him or herself with no assistance from others. Scorpios would rather compete against their personal best record than to compete against others. They have a good memory, and are good with money. The
